Charles P. "Hank" Erchick's Obituary
Charles P. "Hank" Erchick, 87, of Alliance, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 7:25 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. He was born on December 7, 1921 in Donora, PA and lived in Alliance for much of his life. Charles was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1940 and had been a football player for the Aviators. He also attended Ohio State University. Mr. Erchick worked as a diesel mechanic at Transue & Williams. He later spent several years living and working in California, retiring from Proto Tool, where he was employed as a machinist. Charles was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and also a member of the V.F.W. In his past-time, he enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, particularly football and baseball. Survivors include a sister, Clara King of TX; a sister-in-law, Vicki Erchick of Alliance; two brothers, Joseph (Terry) Erchick of Alliance and Bill Erchick of NJ; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Joseph and Catherine (Tegi) Erchick; five sisters, Katherine Erchick who died in infancy, Marie Korleski, Josephine Dellis, Julie Woolf and Katherine Short; and three brothers, Julius, Louis and Steve Erchick. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, August 10, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, August 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht, as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
