Charles A. Craven's Obituary
Charles A. Craven, 85, of Alliance, died on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at 8:20 p.m. at the home of his daughter. He was born on August 20, 1923 in Akron, lived in Alliance all of his life and was a member of the First Christian Church. Charles was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines, and retired from the Alliance Machine Company. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara "Jeanne" Novellino of Alliance, Renee (Matt) Shahaden of Berlin Center and Betty Craven of Alliance; a son, Michael Craven of Damascus; eleven grandchildren, Tammy, Phil, Charlee, Matti, Mitch, Chris, Melanie, Antonia, William, Mike and Stacy; and 13 great-grandchildren, Trent, Zack, Miranda, Philip, Mariah, Xander, Jaylee, Brennan, Addison, Milee, Michael, CJ and Tyler. Preceding him in death was his wife, Colleen (Parks) Craven on November 1, 1990, whom he married on November 24, 1945; a daughter, Lou Ann Myers; an infant daughter, Tammy; a son-in-law, Phil Novellino; a granddaughter, Michelle; and his parents, Lonnie and Ethel (Phillips) Craven. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Pamela Bruno of First Christian Church officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406.
