Charles A. Cowan's Obituary
Charles Albert Cowan, 89, a former resident of Alliance, died on Monday, August 22, 2005, at 3:20 a.m. at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. He was born in Dennison, Ohio on December 13, 1915, and had previously lived in Canton until moving to Alliance in 1947. He was recently residing with his daughter in Somonauk, Illinois. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Cowan served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Donna) Heidkamp of Somonauk, Illinois; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Smith of Bartlett, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, Catherine Ann (Navojosky) Cowan on April 1, 1991; a daughter, Delores Flitcraft; son-in-law, Donald Flitcraft; his parents, Ralph and Lucille (Goodwin) Cowan; two sisters, Louise Sevier and Betty Collier; and three brothers, Richard, Anderson, and Robert Cowan. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, August 26, 2005 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Seifert, officiating. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
