Cathryn C. Leaver's Obituary
Cathryn C. Leaver, 85, a former Alliance resident, died on Friday, May 8, 2009, at 11:05 p.m. at Aspen Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Sebring, Ohio and was a 1941 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School. She had also attended Kent State University. Cathryn had lived in Alliance for most of her life, residing in Colorado Springs for the past three years. She was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and had been a former member of their Altar & Rosary Society. Mrs. Leaver was a Girl Scout Leader, and in her past-time, she enjoyed reading, volunteering at Sacred Heart of Mary Kindergarten and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Cathryn A. Garlock of Sebring, OH and Clara Louise (Daniel) Markert of Hartville, OH; a son, John W. (Beth) Leaver, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, John W. Leaver, Sr., on October 16, 1998, whom she married on September 7, 1946; a daughter, Julia Jane Leaver; a son, Philip A. Leaver; her parents, John A. and Clara E. (Plonkey) Cardinal; two sisters, Edith Carlson and Ruth Ann Knox; and a brother, John G. Cardinal. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Ann Catholic Church in Sebring, OH on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Thomas P. Dyer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
