Carrie Eathel Payton 's Obituary
Carrie Eathel (Knipp) Payton, 93, of Alliance, went home to be reunited with her husband and family on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 9:00 am at her home in Alliance, Ohio. Born on April 17, 1924 in Lawrence County, Ohio to William Louis and Lou Minta (Barker) Knipp, she lived in Alliance since 1965.
Carrie was member of Freewill Baptist Church and had worked at Taylorcraft as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. Carrie enjoyed quilting and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Jeffrey) Hines of Alliance, OH; four sons, Everett (Ada) Payton of St. James, MO, William, Donald, and Lonnie (Tottie) Payton, all of Alliance, OH; 28 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Beth and Barb Payton; a sister, Susan Bryant of Niles, OH; a brother, John Henry Knipp of Alliance, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Okel Dempsey “Jack” Payton, whom she married on November 6, 1944 and died on March 29, 1988; her three sons, Marvin, Garland and James Payton; two daughters, Evelyn and Carol Payton; a daughter-in-law, LaVonne Payton; her parents; a sister, Clara Walters; six brothers, Charles, Billie Lee, Fred, Jesse, Dempsey “Arvil” and Jack Knipp.
In Alliance, the family will receive friends on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home in Alliance, Ohio. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home, with Jimmie Holbrook, of Alliance Freewill Baptist Church, officiating.
In Ironton, the family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio. Burial will immediately follow at Buckhorn Cemetery in Lawrence County, Ohio.
