Carolyn E. Hotchkiss' Obituary
Carolyn E. Hotchkiss, 88, of Alliance, died on Friday, February 9, 2007, at 10:45 p.m. at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring. Born on December 1, 1918 in Alliance, she had been a resident here for all of her life. Mrs. Hotchkiss was a member of the First Christian Church, where she formerly served as church secretary for a number of years. She was active in our community with her membership in the Alliance Women s Club and the Alliance Quota Club. She had also been active in the League of Women s Voters for many years. A member of the Alliance Association of Secretaries and AARP, she had also served as a Girl Scott leader for 18 years. Carolyn retired from the Alliance City Health Department, where she was employed as the Registrar for 18 years. She had previously been a legal secretary. She enjoyed making ceramics, knitting and especially cake decorating for family and friends. She and her husband loved to travel to Arizona, spending several winters there. They were also very active in a couple's golf league for which Carolyn served as secretary/treasurer. She also enjoyed being in a card club with friends for more than 60 years. Carolyn is survived by her husband, John Hotchkiss, whom she married on May 18, 1941; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Carla & John McIntosh of Minerva; three grandchildren, Danielle Hawk, J.D. and Brinton McIntosh; a sister, L. Delyte Yenser of Canton; and she will be fondly remembered as "Aunt Cookie" by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Elmer and Elizabeth (Dinger) Clippinger; and her son, John E. Hotchkiss. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Sue DeHoff of First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
