Carmey (Dottavio) Williams' Obituary
Carmey (Dottavio) Williams, 95, of Alliance, was received by Jesus on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at home with her daughters by her side. She was born on November 11, 1918, in Massillon, Ohio to Alessandro and Louise (Lelli) Dottavio and lived in Alliance most of her life. Carmey was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest pleasure was big family dinners with her seven daughters and extended family. She never missed a family reunion, even in her 90 s! Carmey loved the Lord and was a devout churchgoer at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She read her Bible daily and was a faithful woman of prayer. She was an inspiration to her daughters who wanted to be a woman "just like her." Carmey loved God s creation and never had idle hands. She was an excellent cook, cookie-baker and seamstress who loved to crochet. She worked for many years at The Kiddie Korner, a local family-owned children s store. She was a member of Alliance Area Senior Center and enjoyed monthly luncheons with her friends. Carmey is survived by six daughters: Nancy Cavalier of Paris; Janie (Mel) Martel of Alliance; Sandi Lloyd of Alliance, Carmey s steadfast companion and licensed caregiver; Donna (Randy) Benedetto of Lancaster, OH; Linda Stancato of Canton; and Ruthy (Robert) Gregory of Vonore, TN; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alex (Joanne) Dottavio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Horace Elwood Williams; daughter, Dorothy Dodie Williams Gross; two grandchildren, Darrold Lloyd and Christopher Dragomir; father, Alessandro Dottavio; mother, Louise Dottavio; sister, Splendor Johnson; three brothers, John, Dominic and Albert Dottavio; and three half-brothers, Mideo, Tony and Joe; and a half-sister, Lena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, September 26 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Matthew Mankowski as celebrant.
