Bruce E. Nordquist's Obituary
Bruce E. Nordquist, 60, of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Born on November 13, 1962 in Alliance to Harold E. and Shirley (Duvall) Nordquist, he lived in Alliance all of his life.
Bruce was a 1981 graduate of Alliance High School and attended Kent State University.
Bruce was employed at Wieland Metal Services as a receiving clerk for 24 years, retiring in May of this year.
He was a member of Alliance Hot Stove Baseball where he served as both a Coach and Commissioner during that time. During his coaching career, Bruce had an impact on hundreds of kids throughout the city. Accomplishments include an undefeated Hot Stove State Title (Trap’s Sports) as well as back-to-back American Legion Baseball regional championships with Alliance Post #166. He was a certified first responder and a member of the Cliff Trainer Memorial Scholarship Committee. He proudly served the IAM & AW Local Lodge #1297 where he worked as Chief Union Steward for the last 8 years until his retirement.
Bruce enjoyed coaching and watching baseball, traveling to the beach with his family, hunting and camping, as well as spending time with his sons.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Nordquist of Alliance; two sons, Ryan (Chyan) Nordquist of Stow and Logan (Christina Larsen) Nordquist of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Peggy J. Leaver of Berlin Center and Teri E. Nordquist of Alliance; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father, Harold E. Nordquist; his best friend, Bob Brick; and his dog, Bear.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions will be given to the Alliance Aviator Baseball Team. Please direct donations to the Alliance Sports Boosters, P.O. Box 3332, Alliance, Ohio in memory of Bruce Nordquist.
