Brenda Sue Mercer's Obituary
Brenda Sue (Allen) Mercer, 74, of Alliance, was promoted to Glory on April 27, 2016 at 6:08 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance.
Born on November 3, 1941 in Fostoria, Ohio to Arthur William and Dorothy Maxine (Finerd) Allen, she lived in Alliance for most of her life.
Brenda was a 1959 graduate of Liberty Benton High School in Findlay, Ohio.
She was a longtime member of The Salvation Army and currently is a member of the Alliance Church of the Nazarene.
Brenda collected swans, enjoyed recording and watching programs on her VCR, and especially loved her time spent watching the Cleveland Indians with her husband and her dog, Precious.
Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Mercer, whom she married on February 19, 1966; two daughters, Amy L. Mercer of Alliance and Sara D. (Matt) Hancock of Alliance; six grandchildren, Kelsi Mercer, Drew Mercer, Austin Mercer, Courtney Hancock, Nathan Hancock, and Kendra Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Jason Mercer and Delilah Mercer; a brother, William F. (Ann) Allen of Lenoir City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Donna M. Turner and Shirley A. Emmons; and two brothers, Raymond E. Allen and John R. Allen.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at The Alliance Salvation Army, with Rev. Philip Shepard officiating.
