Betty R. Popa's Obituary
Betty R. Popa, 76, of Alliance, died on Thursday, April 10, 2008. She was born on June 15, 1931 in Alliance and lived in Alliance all of her life. A graduate of Alliance High School, she retired from Alliance Manufacturing after 36 years of service as an assembler. Mrs. Popa was a member of the T&W Retirees Club, the Alliance Manufacturing Retirees Club and the Alliance Senior Center. Betty is survived by a daughter, Michelle L. (Jeff) Dillon of Alliance; a son, George M. (Paula) Popa of Alliance; five grandchildren, Greg Dillon, Anthony J. Dillon, Jennifer Rose Popa, Angela Colley and Krista Popa; a sister, Lucile Kelley of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, George Popa on September 27, 2006, whom she married on January 3, 1953; an infant son, Emil Popa; her parents, Bill and Rose (Schneeberger) Kriner; two sisters, Ann Albaugh and Esther Lucas; and a brother, John Grossenbacher. Private funeral services were held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph A. Peters officiating. There were no calling hours. Interment took place at Highland Memorial Park.
