Betty Lou Hamby's Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Betty Lou Hamby, passed away April 17, 2003, following a brave battle with liver disease. Betty grew up in Alliance, OH, and graduated from Alliance High School. She married Jerome Hamby on Christmas Eve, 1970. She was a member of the Dante Club and enjoyed catering for many special events, including weddings of her dearest friends. She attended Harvest Christian Center Church in Minerva, OH, where she had found salvation in God and was baptized and saved. Betty loved to go camping and her greatest joy was being with her family and dear friends. Betty was very proud of her three sons and their families. Her oldest son, Gunnery Sergeant James McConnahey is currently in Kuwait defending our country. His wife, Martha and children, James and Selena live in Hubert, NC. Her son, Bryon McConnahey, his wife Elizabeth and daughter Aliza live in Kure Beach, NC. Her youngest son, Jerome J. Hamby II, and his daughter Jenna live in Alliance. Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Guidon, her father, Edward McConnahey, and an infant brother Edward McConnahey, Jr. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Charles Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Alliance City Cemetery . Betty will be greatly missed by all who had the joy of knowing her. She always had a smile, a laugh, and hugs and kisses available when needed most.
