Betreva M. Seifert 's Obituary
Betreva (Shields) Seifert, age 100, passed away peacefully at 4:00 am on April 19, 2016, at the St. Joseph Senior Living Center in Louisville, Ohio. She was loved by her family and also by all who knew her.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 9, 1916, and moved with her family to Barberton as an infant. A graduate of Barberton High School Class of 1934, she also graduated from Barberton Business School in 1936. She lived in Alliance since 1941 and moved with her husband to the Alsatian Senior Living in Louisville in 2004.
Her husband, Joseph, who she married on November 15, 1941, preceded Mrs. Seifert in death on November 1, 2005. She is survived by her sons, Thomas J. Seifert of Oakland, California and Joseph W. (Sue) Seifert, Jr. of Grayling, Michigan; her daughter Mary (Irwin) Kirsch of Yardley, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Michael (Mary) Seifert, Jacob Kirsch, Gwen (Daniel) Hills, and Sara Kirsch; and two great- grandchildren, Dylan and Rebecca Seifert. Also surviving are two sisters, Lillian Dawson of Beloit, OH and Rita Winebrenner of Barberton, OH. Her parents, George and Mary (Tressel) Shields, her brother Thomas Shields and a sister Evelyn Lewis, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Seifert was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance and formerly active with their Altar & Rosary Society. She was an avid card player and particularly enjoyed playing bridge. She also enjoyed reading, keeping up on current events and her daily walks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Saturday, April 23, at 11:00 am., with Rev. Joseph Ruggieri as celebrant. Entombment will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
