Bernice J. "Bernie" Tournoux's Obituary
Bernice June Tournoux was born on August 26th 1932 in Alliance, Ohio to Nicholas C. Ottle and Josephine B. (Zwick) Ottle. Bernice left this world on January 13, 2024 to be with the Lord, surrounded by her three daughters and family. She passed after battling with brain cancer.
Bernie was an avid reader. She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family. Bernice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going for rides in the country and shopping.
Bernice spent time traveling and touring historical sites with her daughters. She was a devoted Christian and attended church regularly.
Bernice attended St. Joseph school and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance. She was also a member of Infant Jesus of Prague Guild.
She graduated from Alliance High School in 1950. She was employed at B&W Tubular Products as a secretary. Bernie raised her three daughters before returning to work at Sherwood Coat Factory. She also was employed at Mount Union College cafeteria, Value City and Goodies. She volunteered at Alliance City Hospital and retired at age 77.
Bernice was survived by her daughters; Diane (Edward) Semborski, JoAnn (Timothy) Self and Connie (James Sr.) Ohman. Grandchildren; Michael Semborski (Janelle Gomez), Jonathan Semborski (Kyra Marks), Michail (Wade) Moore, Austin (Jennifer) Self, Andrew (Samantha) Reed, Katie Reed (Amanda Turner), James Jr. “JJ” Ohman (Maddie Spence) and Blake Ohman; four great-grandchildren; Sawyer, Sturgill, Jackson Moore and Zepplyn Self; and a sister, Mary Haynes.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joe Tournoux; her parents, Nicholas C. Ottle and Josephine B. (Zwick) Ottle; siblings; Bernard (Lorraine) Ottle, Bob (Donna) Ottle, Betty (Harrold) Gulling, Kathleen (Ed) Krutel, Nick Ottle, Theresa (Lee) VanCamp and Veronica (Joe) Schilling.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maximo. Bernice will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park following the ceremony.
