Bernard C. "Bernie" Welden's Obituary
Bernard C. "Bernie" Welden, 46, of Alliance, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 3:58 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born in Canton on March 7, 1957, to Peter A. and Mary Edna (Summers) Welden, the founders of Mary Ann Donuts where he worked for many years before moving to Alliance in 1991. A self-employed carpenter, Bernie was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He was a member of the Alliance Christian Center, and the NRA. He loved riding horses and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Jo (Gusky) Welden, they were married on May 7, 1983; a daughter, Steffanie Welden of Alliance; five sons, C. Wess (Emily) Daniels of Pasadena, Calif., Jason (Robin) Geiselman, A. Beau (Jaime) Welden, Nicholas C. Welden and Eric R. Welden, all of Alliance; one grandchild, Curtis Rae Geiselman, close family friends, Abby Norcom and David Walker, both of Alliance; three sisters, Mary Ann Welden of Troy, Mich., Edna Pearcey of Billings, Mont., and Dorothy Schweitzer of Canton; two brothers, Peter F. Welden of Alliance and Patrick J. Welden of Louisville; aunt, Dorothy Summers of Troy, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Walton-Schrader Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23, 2003, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Alliance Christian Center on Monday, November 24, 2003, at 1 :00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Dykshoorn officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills in Canton. The Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
