Berdine M. Evans' Obituary
Berdine M. Evans, 98, of Kent and formerly of Alliance, died on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She was born on November 10, 1912 in Paris Township, lived in Alliance most of her life, and more recently moved to Kent to live with her family. Berdine was a graduate of Alliance High School class of June 1931. She was a member of the First Christian Church for over 75 years and was a member of their Doric Class, the Senior Disciples and a one time member of the Diaconate. Mrs. Evans formerly worked for the F.W. Woolworth Co. as a cashier and bookkeeper. She also was employed with Virginia Dare Dress Shop, Yeagers Dept. Store, Alliance Tool, and Alliance Manufacturing. Berdine was a member of the Alliance Area Senior Center, Mended Hearts and the YWCA. In her past-time, she enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, and loved watching the news and keeping up with the times. She leaves behind her son David Evans and daughter-in-law Paula Evans of Kent, her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Stacy and Stephanie; a brother, Earl Risden of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Michael Evans on April 21, 1994, whom she married on January 17, 1937; her parents, Ross Lawrence and Susie Jane (Rickel) Risden; a sister, Geraldine McKnight; and a brother, Virgil Risden. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon with the Rev. Pam Bruno of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
