Benjamin Burky's Obituary
Benjamin Burky, 86, of Alliance, died on Thursday, January 3, 2002, at 4:30 a.m. at Canterbury Villa of Alliance. Born in Alliance, on October 30, 1915, he had lived in the Alliance area all his life. A graduate of Alliance High School, he retired from Morgan Engineering Co. in 1980 after 37 years of service. He was also a member of the Morgan Retirees Club. Survivors include his wife Virginia (Mickan) Burky of the home, with whom he would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on January 13, 2002; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sara Burky of Uniontown; granddaughter and her husband, Leanne (Burky) and Brian Scott, of N. Canton; grandson, Jonathan Burky of Uniontown; grandson and his wife, Ryan and Rebecca Burky of Dunedin, FL; three great-granddaughters, Briana, Meredith and Bailey Scott all of N. Canton; a brother, John Burky of Sebring; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Janice Mangus; his parents, Hans John and Jeanne (Wuilleumier) Burky; four sisters, Rose Winkleman, May Schwab, Helen McKee and Mathilde Truby; and two brothers, Robert and George Burky. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on SaturdayJanuary 5, 2002, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
