Barbara A. Roose's Obituary
Barbara A. Roose, 84, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 2:10 p.m. at Community Care Center. Born on January 1, 1928 in Youngstown, OH, she was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown. Barbara lived in Alliance for 64 years. A member of First Immanuel United Church of Christ, she retired from the J.C. Penney Co., where she was employed at the Catalog Dept. Mrs. Roose was a member of Y-Wives Club for over 50 years. She had a sharp wit, was an avid reader, knitter, sweets connoisseur, great care-package-sender and all around cheerful person. Throughout her life, she and her husband Merle traveled to 49 states. She especially loved the holidays and spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Bill) Rhodes of Seabrook, NH and Susan (Dan) Wells of Alliance; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Roose of Alliance; four grandchildren, Lisa Santis, Tracy Roose, Adrienne Grove and Ashley Grove; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Merle Roose on June 20, 1999, whom she married on June 17, 1947; a son, James Roose; her parents, Howard and Harriett (Patterson) Cole; one sister; and three brothers. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Neal Mann of First Immanuel United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
