Barbara F. Bankovich's Obituary
Barbara F. Bankovich, 94, of Alliance, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at 9:25 a.m. at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville, Ohio.
Born on May 17, 1924, in Alliance, to Paul and Amelia (Srmag) Bankovich, she lived in Alliance for all of her life.
An Alliance High School graduate, Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Barbara was employed at Ohio Bell as a telephone operator and retired after 40 years of service.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Croatian Fraternal Union.
Barbara loved the company of her dearest family and life-time friends and co-workers of Ohio Bell. She was an accomplished knitter, enjoyed poetry, playing scrabble and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her three nieces, Mary Ann (Larry) Basar of Alliance, Christine Bankovich of Avon Lake and Karen (Tom) Dawes of Hudson; two nephews, Paul (Bobbi) Bankovich Jr. of North Canton and Michael Bankovich of Hudson; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Josephine Rabuzzi; two brothers, Walter Bankovich and Paul W. Bankovich, Sr, and a nephew Ray Rabuzzi.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am, with Rev. Matthew J. Mankowski as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
