Avanell L. Dickinson's Obituary
Avanell L. (Pearson) Dickinson, 91, of Homeworth, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 7:20 a.m. at the Bel Air Care Center. Born in Augusta Township, OH on August 30, 1914, she had lived in Freeburg most of her life, graduating from Minerva High School. A member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Mrs. Dickinson retired from Robertson Heating Supply where she was secretary for many years. She was an avid bowler, and loved to play cards and give to her grandchildren. She is survived by her step-son; Jay (Janie) Dickinson of Freeburg; eight grandchildren, Sheryl (Richard) Cawrse of Huron, Penny (David) Neubauer of Alliance, Theresa Carpenter of Alliance, Jennifer Babcock of Huron, David (Debbie) Scott of Alliance, Dale (Diane) Scott of Alliance, Jay (Susan) Dickinson, Jr. of Damascus, and Mike Miller of Beloit; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Mae Carter of Minerva; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Drexell Dickinson on April 10, 1992, (they married on April 6, 1945); a daughter and son-in-law, Paul and Joyce Ann (Brandt) Scott; her parents, Thomas C. and Eva May (Hoops) Pearson; a step-sister, Pauline Newman; and three brothers, Wilbur, Elwood and Atlee Pearson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Internment will follow at Freeburg Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
