August Michael "Goose" Polozzi's Obituary
August Michael "Goose" Polozzi, 84, of Alliance, died on Monday, December 29, 2003, at 1 :33 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was born in Piney Fork, OH, on August 15, 1919, and live most of his life in Alliance. Goose retired from Transue and Williams Co. where he had been employed as a press operator. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans #50, B.P .0. Elks, #467, the Sebring American Legion, the Roma Society, and the Christopher Columbus Society. During his high school years, he obtained letters in many sports including javelin, wrestling, football, basketball, and baseball. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler, a gardener, and a mediocre golfer. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Benedetti) Polozzi, whom he married on August 15, 1941; two daughters, Carol Polozzi of Alliance and Gail (Dave) Singleton of Hiram; a son, Michael Polozzi of Houston, Tex; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrico and Assunta (Pazzelli) Polozzi; two sisters, Mary Fryfogle and Anne Guidon; and two brothers, Joseph Polozzi and Louis Polozzi. Friends may call at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, January 4, 2004, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A B.P.O. Elks Lodge service will be held at on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht as celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
