Atty. Charles L. Moushey's Obituary
Atty. Charles L. Moushey, 89, of Alliance, died on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 4:40 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born in Alliance on February 19, 1917 and was a life long resident of Alliance. Atty. Moushey practiced law in Alliance for many years and was in association with Atty. John F. Gwin, Atty. Michael Tangi and Atty. Joseph Casale. He received his education at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School. He was also a graduate of Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He was also a graduate of Southern Methodist University where he received his Bachelor of Laws Degree (L.L.B.). He had served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army and was a Captain at the time of his discharge. His division was part of the Normandy Invasion and he received the European African Middle Eastern Medal with Five Battle Stars, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Atty. Moushey was very active in our community and was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #558, 3rd and 4th Degree, and had served as Grand Knight. He was a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Past State Officer. He was also a member of the Stark County Law Library and served as Past President; a member of the Stark County Bar Association and Past President; and a member of both the Ohio and American Bar Associations. He was also a member and Past President of the Alliance Civil Service Commission; a member and Past Officer at the B. P. O. Elks Lodge #467; and the American Legion, Post #166. His love for music inspired him to play the saxophone and he was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 111. He is survived by his wife, Joan S. Moushey of the home: his children, Michael L. (Nora E.) Moushey of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Leigh Anne (Donald) Hall of Savannah, Georgia; his grandchildren, Douglas L. Moushey, Laura E. Moushey, Brian Hall and Elliott Hall; his step children, Lawrence (Deanna) Dordea of Alliance, Andrei (Nicole) Dordea of Wooster and Ruth (Joel) Dreyer of Davie, Florida; his step grandchildren, Christopher Dordea, Jillian Dordea, Adam Dordea, Alexander Dordea and Andrei Dordea, VIII, Jonathan Dreyer and Lindsay Dreyer; his brothers, John (Jane) Moushey of Canton, Ohio and James (Betty) Moushey of Tallmadge, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann (Stanley) Moushey; his parents, Leo A. and Stella (Rupert) Moushey; and an infant brother, Kieran Moushey. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Knights of Columbus Prayer Service will take place at 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. J. Patrick Manning as Celebrant. Interment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
