Arthur R. "Bud" Calladine's Obituary
Arthur R. "Bud" Calladine, 79 of Alliance, died on Monday, November 29, 2004, at 5:40 a.m. at his residence with his family at his side. Born in Alliance on September 25, 1925, he lived in Alliance all his life. A WW II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Calladine retired from Babcock & Wilcox in 1985 after 38 years of service as a crane operator. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Conrad Masonic Temple, the Dante Alighieri Society and the Alliance Senior Center. Bud was an avid sports fan and bowler, and had served for many years as a board member for the Alliance Men s Bowling Association. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Viola) Calladine (whom he married on June 28, 1947); a daughter, Cheryl (Larry) James of Alliance; a son, Ray Calladine of Alliance; three grandchildren, Brian Calladine, Lisa Vitale, and Lori Worsencroft; six great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; two sisters, Judy Hanneman of LaMirada, CA and Donna Pulver of Long Beach, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hazel (Boord) Calladine; a great-grandson, Richie Buffington Vitale; and a sister, Darlene Summerville. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Hugh Hookway officiating. Entombment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
