Arlene M. Gurney's Obituary
Arlene M. Gurney, 65, of Alliance, died Monday, October 21, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown. Born in Youngstown, on December 17, 1936, she had been a resident of the Alliance area for all of her life. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Homeworth. Mrs. Gurney had sewn for A & S Lettering for the last 35 years, and had been the owner for the last 16 years. She had also owned Arlene's Pretty Punch Craft Shop for 25 years. She and her husband were avid bowlers in the Alliance and Canton area for 40 years and had traveled with the inner city tournaments for 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Gene, whom she married on January 22, 1955; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Terry Kunkle, Rhonda and Don Curtis, and Lori and Matt Fagan; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Paula Gurney and Mike Gurney; and 8 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Arlie and Lydia (Stewart) Toole; and a sister, Marjorie Tanner. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, 2002, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Patsy Coe Densmore, officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
