Anthony Polverine's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Polverine, 85, of Alliance, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 7:35 am, surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Alliance.
Born on January 1, 1930 in Alliance, Ohio to Peter and Josephine (Ferro) Polverine, he lived in Alliance for all of his life.
A 1949 graduate of Alliance High School, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served our country in the U.S. Army.
Tony was employed at Ford Motor Co. in Canton as a Tool & Die Inspector and retired in 1993 after 29 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers, Local 542.
Tony enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his daily breakfast buddies at Blair’s Auto. Tony also loved animals, including “Baxter” his favorite Pomeranian.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina M. Funk of Alliance, OH, Lori L. (Patrick) Heddleston of Alliance, OH; four grandchildren, Nicole R. Funk of Alliance, Cory D. (Ellen) Heddleston of Columbus, OH, Katie L. Funk of Alliance, OH, Abby L. Heddleston of Alliance, OH; two sisters, Emma Beech of Alliance, OH, Margaret (Robert) Eberling of Alliance, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Tortora) Polverine, whom he married on July 27, 1957 and died on May 8, 1998; his father, Peter Polverine; mother, Josephine Polverine; seven brothers, Vincent, Joseph, Harry, Pete, Aldo, Bruno, and an infant brother, Bruno Polverine; and a son-in-law, David Funk.
The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
His Funeral Service will be held at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jon Heddleston, of Sperryville, VA, officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the choice of the donor.
