Anna Mae "Ann" Smith's Obituary
Anna Mae "Ann" Smith, 92, formerly of E. Mill St., died on Friday, September 30, 2005, at 5:35 a.m. at the Community Care Center. Born in Avalon, PA on June 30, 1913 to Clarence R. and Sarah E. Smith, she had lived in Alliance most all of her life and attended Alliance High School. Ann was employed at the former G.C. Murphy Co. for 31 years and had worked at the Alliance Appliance Center for 19 years before her retirement in 1984. A member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church for 76 years, she had served as Sunday School Secretary for almost 70 years. She was also a member of the Miller Reed Circle, Church Women United, a charter member of AARP #2630, past chairman of Alliance Women s Division of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Alliance Area Senior Citizen Center where she worked the concession stand during Bingo for many years. Ann is survived by two nieces, Kay Johns of Alliance, and Linda Johns and her boyfriend Bob Schillig of Louisville; two nephews of Pittsburgh, PA; and several great nieces and a nephew of Pittsburgh. Preceding her in death was her parents; two sisters, Jane Miller of Alliance, and Helen Johns of Sebring, formerly of Alliance; and a brother, Ray "Bud" Smith of Pittsburgh. The family will receive friends at the Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Sunday, October, 2, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will held at the funeral home on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
