Angelo Mangino's Obituary
Angelo Mangino, 91, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, January 01, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at Altercare of Alliance. Born on February 22, 1922 in Alliance, he lived in Alliance all of his life. He attended Alliance Schools and spent a year in the CCC in Idaho. Angelo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A veteran of WWII, he served our country in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Theater on the Islands of Palau and Hawaii. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Pruducts Division as an ultrasonic inspector in 1980 after 34 years of service. Mr. Mangino was also a member of the Roma Society and was an avid bottle collector and bird watcher. He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Diantha) Mangino of Alliance and Stephen (Joan) Mangino of Louisville; four grandchildren, Melissa (Scott) Steepleton of N. Canton, Matthew Mangino of N. Canton, Daniel Mangino of Louisville and Joseph Mangino of N. Canton; a great-granddaughter, Ava Steepleton; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Mancini and Eleanor Mangino; a brother-in-law, John Welch; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Maddalena "Helen" (Micketti) Mangino on December 3, 2008, whom he married on December 12, 1942; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Connie) Mangino; his parents, Luigi and Rosaria (Toppi) Mancini; two sisters, Josephine Dethridge and Eva McKnight; and two brothers, Andrew Mangino and Premo Mancini. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. James Kolp, officiating.
