Albert S. "Bud" Oyster's Obituary
Albert S. "Bud" Oyster, 75, of Alliance, died on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at 8:55 a.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1932 in Alliance, and lived in Alliance all of his life. Bud was a 1950 graduate of Alliance High School. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the U.S. Navy choir. Bud was also a member of National and Ohio L.S.T. Association. Mr. Oyster retired in 1996 with 43 years of service at the Alliance Machine Company where he was employed as a template maker. He was a member of the VFW Post 1036, American Legion Post 166, and the Roma Society. He enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. Bud is survived by his wife, Patricia J. (Haines) Oyster whom he married on August 19, 1956; two sons, Craig L. (Sue) Oyster of Seven Hills, Douglas A. (Kathy) Oyster of Deerfield; a daughter, Linda S. (John) Raga of Damascus; six grandchildren, Wendy K. Oyster Anderson, Elisha M. (Chad) Fish, Aaron M. Raga, Kyle S. Oyster, Jacob S. Oyster, and Cody J. Raga; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Autumn Oyster; and one expected great-grandson; two sisters, Nancy (Allan) Moff of Atwater and Shirley Lang of Waukesha, WI; one brother, Jack (Avis) Oyster of Lakeland, FL; a sister-in-law, Patricia Haines Sauro of Sault Saint Marie, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis W. and Katherine I. (Hurford) Oyster; a sister, Patricia (Oyster) Rodkey; a sister-in-law, Betty J. Hreha; and a brother-in-law, William L. Haines. The family will receive friends at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Chester Bryant officiating. Entombment, with military honors provided by the Alliance American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036, will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
