Albert Thomas Lotz III, 78, of Hanoverton, a cherished man known for his gentle nature and quiet contemplation went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 26, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.
He was born on January 10, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland to Albert Thomas and Charlotte (Farinetti) Lotz, Jr. After the passing of his father in 1962, his mother met and married Jack Daubert. He was extremely fond of Jack and respected him greatly. He looked up to him as a dad.
Albert proudly served our country in the US Army as a combat medic in Vietnam in the 11th ACR. His experiences there directed the course of his professional life.
Albert had a thirst for knowledge and was a lifelong learner. He obtained his Undergraduate Degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1976 and his Master’s Degree in Psychology in 1979 from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor.
Albert was dedicated to helping others and he created the “Recovery Options Program” and worked with the Court Systems of Alliance and Canton as a Substance Abuse Counselor for over 25 years.
Albert was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.
He was a deeply spiritual man and loved the serenity of Guilford Lake Community where he resided for the last number of years.
Albert enjoyed Tai Chi and had been an instructor. He loved family, plants and gardening, reading, and classic cars.
He will be sadly missed by his longtime companion, Christine Murphy, her children and grandchildren of Alliance: two brothers, Donald (Elaine) Lotz of Copperas Cove, TX and Michael (Sheila) Lotz of Waterford, PA; two sisters, Trish (Russ) Illig of Lake City, PA and Kathy (Dana) Glance of Winter Haven, FL; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
Proceeding him in death was his mother, Charlotte Daubert; stepfather, Jack Daubert; and his father Albert T. Lotz, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 10-11 AM at Sharer-Sterling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. His Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Full military honors will immediately follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
