Alan Wayne Meiring's Obituary
Alan Wayne Meiring, 52, of 449 E. Main St., Alliance, died on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 3:35 p.m. at Alliance Community Hospital. A lifelong resident of Alliance, Alan was born on December 3, 1951. He graduated from Alliance High School and attended the Salem branch of Kent State University. He retired from the Alliance Machine Company. A Viet Nam veteran serving in the U.S. Army, he had been a member of the former Saxon Lodge. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Meiring and her fiance, Caleb Fike of Leetonia; a son, Scott Meiring and his fiance, Annette Reitz of Alliance; six grandchildren, Nicole Harper, Matthew Harper, Cayla Fike, Kristine Reitz, Chelsea Meiring, and Zachary Meiring; his mother, Gloria Jean (Girardini) Oaks of Woodbridge, V A; three sisters, Me1aine (Mark) Mangus of Damascus, Rhonda (Steve) Donohoe of Alliance, and Sheri (Matt) Egnotovich of Greentown; two brothers, Stephen M. (Jackie) Meiring of Georgia and Jeff(Cindi) Meiring of Alliance; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 2nd wife Catherine (Hawley) Meiring in 2001; his father, Peter Edward Meiring; his step mother, Ruth Ann Meiring; his step father, Gene Oaks; and his grandparents, Rudolph and Stella Girardini and Edward and Vena Meiring. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Fr. Donald L. Feicht officiating. There will be no calling hours. The Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
