Tonsi Peters

April 22, 1921 - May 14, 2022

Constance "Tonsi" (Dordea) Peters, 101, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio. Born on April 22, 1921 in Alliance, to Andy and Anna (Vintila) Dordea, she lived in Alliance all of her life. A 1939 graduate of Alliance High School, she was chosen to be one of the first female cheerleaders and was a member of the Cheerleaders Alumni. Constance was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, their Altar and Rosary Society, and served as chairman of Sickness and Distress. She won the Altar and Rosary Society Woman of the Year award in 1967. She was also a member of the Infant of Prague, served on the Sacristan Committee and was a member of the Regina Coeli Senior Club. She was a member of the American Red Cross, the Blood Bank Canteen and was a Water Safety Instructor for 25 years. She was also a member of the Civilian Defense and Railroad Station Canteen during WWII. She served as Neighborhood Chairman for the Girl Scouts of America at South Lincoln School and was a member of the Alliance Senior Citizens Center. Tonsi loved to dance and won two area dance contests with her brother. Survivors include three sons, Gary Peters and Mark (Teresa) Peters all of Alliance and Jeff (Sue) Peters of Medina; her daughter, Christina (Jim) Storck of Alliance; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Peters of Medina; a son-in-law, Bud Flugan of Alliance; special friends, Al and Pat Retone; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Francis Albert Peters, whom she married on May 17, 1941 and who died on January 13, 2016; her son, David Peters; two daughters, Nikki Hensley and Connie Flugan; her parents; a brother, Andy Dordea; and two sisters, Ann Proseski and Romona Dordea. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Regina Coeli Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 663 Fernwood Blvd., Alliance, OH 44601 or to The Oaks Foundation, 715 S. Johnson Rd., Sebring, OH 44672 .
