Mary Eve Cross

September 8, 1934 - January 31, 2022

Mary Eve (Welch) Cross, 87, of Alliance, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at her home in Alliance, Ohio. Born on July 8, 1934 in Friendsville, Maryland to Orlando and Elizabeth (Harris) Welch, she lived in Alliance since 1959. A graduate of Oakland High School in Oakland, MD, she was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Mountain Lake Park, Maryland. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 2174 and the AARP. Mary was employed at Alliance Community Hospital as surgical assistant for more than 30 years. Mary enjoyed sewing and gardening. Survivors include her three sons, Vaughn, Ted and John Cross, all of Alliance; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Judy Kinsner of Albany, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, Junior C. Cross, whom she married on May 31, 1952 and who died on September 23, 2001; her three sisters, Betty Collins, Margaret Pottor and Ellen Wolfe; her father, Orlando Welch; and her mother, Elizabeth Welch Griffith.
