David P. Dackor

December 12, 1931 - April 20, 2022

David P. Dackor, 90, of Alliance, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:55 pm at McCrea Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Alliance, Ohio. He was born on December 12, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Anna (Kaczmyer) Dackor. David moved to Cleveland at a young age. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and graduated from Collinwood High School in Cleveland. After graduation, he joined the Navy and spent 4 years in the Pacific area during the Korean War aboard the USS Essex. Upon an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1954, Dave attended the Institute of Photography in New York City. Returning to Cleveland, he worked at several photography studios and at Addressograph Multigraph heading the photo dept. David married Rosemarie Miklosovic at Holy Cross Church in Euclid. They resided in Eastlake until 1973 when David and his family moved to Alliance where he accepted a position in the photo department at Babcock and Wilcox Research and was employed there for 20 years. During that time, David won many awards for his photographic work, and belonged to the Professional Photographers of America. He traveled to conventions in the US for Babcock and Wilcox. Since retirement in 1993, Dave has enjoyed golf, traveling, making bird houses, playing his harmonica with a harmonica group “Grooving Grandpas”, his four grandchildren, and volunteer work. David was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and served as an usher. He was also a member of Alliance Senior Center and a dedicated volunteer serving on the Participating Committee, a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #467 and a member of the VFW Post #1036. He was on the board of the Alliance Area Concert Association and formerly on the Carnation Festival Board, doing all the photographic work. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to many countries, including Russia, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Great Britan and the Islands. David was a devoted father and husband. He loved his family above everything else and being a grandfather was his biggest joy. David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemarie Dackor; his son, Christopher (Debra Grimm) Dackor; his daughter, Amy (Dackor) Edens; five grandchildren, Ashley Dackor Lord, Amanda Edens, Michael Edens and Natasha Rohit all of Florida and Chrisopher Dackor II of Alliance; four great-grandchildren, Parker Jones, Kensley Ransey, Haisleigh Ramsey and Kyrie Edens All of Florida; and a nephew, Gary Dackor of N. Carolina. Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Betty Dackor. All neighbors and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with Rev. G. David Weikart, as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
