What a loss to the Alliance Community and to so many people who loved and admired David. He was a wonderful support to me when I was pastor a Regina Coeli, always ready to help and full of helpful insights. He was a great travelling companion as well -- always a lot of fun, and always concerned for others. As this is the first week of class - I am not able to miss, I apologise that I am not able to be at the service on Thursday (and I had a night class this evening). But my thoughts and prayers are with and for David and his family.

Please accept my prayers and sympathy. it is a grave loss for so many.

David came to our home with my wife's sister, Pat Nangle when they first met. They had born similar burdens of loosing a loved one. We were very impressed in the quality of a gentleman he was. He was accomplished in so many ways. An educator, involved in so many activities which gave aid and compassion to so many. David was firm in his faith in the Living God he served. We feel cheated in that we didn't get to know him longer.We have full confidence that we will see him again. I had suffered much because of a hunting accident twenty nine years ago. The first time David shook my hand I felt an uncommon compassion and a firm grip that cradled my hands in both of his. I saw a tear in his eyes and a smile on his face. I knew that I was being greeted by a genuine brother in Christ. He loved coming to our home in the West Virginia hills. Unto David I would say, "Go rest high on the mountain, dear friend. I consider myself fortunate to have known David Becker for the past nine years. Dave and my mom, Pat, shared a common bond in that both had lost a beloved spouse. That bond enabled them to establish a genuine friendship, and blessed them both with a loving and understanding companion. Dave was an integral part of our family, and he enjoyed participating in whatever chaos we had going on! He was always ready for the next adventure, and we had many over the years. I'm especially thankful for the fond memories of our trips to Ireland, Gettysburg, and jaunts to Ohio's Amish country. I don't think Dave ever met a stranger. He seemed to enjoy people wherever he went and loved to share his life experience. My heart goes out to his family, especially for the last few difficult months. I pray that they find comfort in knowing that he can now be at peace and in the company of those loved ones that have gone before him. With deepest sympathy, Ann Nangle

Mr. Becker was a mentor to me, I would occasionally find myself in his office for some mischief I was involved in, but he could see past the situation and know we were kids just trying to figure life out. He always would guide us in a positive direction. To his family I say thank you for sharing this wonderful man, and know that he will always hold a fond place in my memories. I am so sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I met him in 1966 when was 17 years old. I had just started dating his niece, Jeanne Flowers, who is now my wife of 48 years. Dave was so incredibly nice to me and genuinely interested in getting to know me from day one. I would see him off and on over the course of the past 51 years, and we had some good times together, especially on the golf course. He was a man who I truly admired because of his accomplishments, his love and appreciation for his family, and because he was such a "down-to-earth" genuinely nice guy. I always looked forward to seeing him, and will very much miss him. My sympathy goes out to the entire family.

Sorry to hear about Mr. Becker...I worked for him as a custodian ...he was a very tough person to work for but also found him very fair....RIP....Gary King
